environmental portraiture is where when your photographing a man/woman/animal the back ground becomes relevant to how they are photographer i.e. if you were shooting an offices worker for a magazine your back ground will be ether an offices block or an office behind them or if your were photographing a track dog in the races you will have it stood on the track with maybe flood lights behind it or the start line.
the reason for this is so it tells more about who you are photographing because you can put your subject any where to be photography i.e. a farmer in a office but when people come to look at the image its not going to make seance as if you put the farmer in a feald with animals and covered in mood the person looking at the photo will think a farmer working with his cattle.
when i came to do my own work i looked up some photographers and i found
Bill Cramer who has been working as a enviromele photographer for 20+ years now and he has worket for meany high end magazines in the united states he also has his own magazine witch is called wonderful machine where it shows people what to do and the best equipment to use and below are some of his photographs
from looking at these photos and his web sight i started to think of a few ideas of what i could do for my environment portrait so i googled some images of people playing football and got some ideas
Candid
Candid photography is where your photography has people in it and there the main part of the image but they don't know you have photographer them for example if you photographet some one in a city sat on a bench eating a butty but they don't know you have taken a candid photo:
Paul Strand:
paul strand it more of a land scape/ arcutexture photographer but he has a famous canon of people walking infrount of a church witch is a creat example.
all tho candid photography seems a bit silly but its one of the main photographs used for weddings and port rate photos where the subject isn't looking at the camera directly E.G the images below
Looking at the photos here i wanted to do some smiler but with my own stamp on them and i got plenty when i went to new york.
Fine art photography can be judged on different levels but the main part is the beauty and ascetics of the photograph. fine are came along in painting where the artist would paint/draw a port rate of some one as much realistic as they can and has moved over in to photography from taking the image and using software like Lightroom or photoshop to make images black and wight or changing contrast to bring the beauty out in the images as some of the photographers below.
Robert Mapplethorpe
Alfred Stieglitz
was an American photographer and modern art promoter who was instrumental over his fifty-year career in making photography an accepted art form. In addition to his photography, Stieglitz is known for the New York art galleries that he ran in the early part of the 20th century, where he introduced many avant-garde European artists to the U.S
